silver city highway

We took a few days out to drive up and around Mildura. I'd never been there before and fell head over heels in love with the countryside.
There's the willowy serene beauty of the Darling and Murray rivers that make me want to book a house boat holiday immediately.
Then there's the stark contrast of the Mungo National Park lunar landscape to the bounty of fresh produce and healthy gumtrees surrounding the riverbanks, palm trees and the yearly vanilla slice competition. Throw in a few quaint pubs, some wonderfully daggy motels with radio headboards
and a gin and tonic as the sun sets on your campsite and you could be forgiven for not wanting to return home.
Syd is very mobile these days and travelling with him isn't always easy, but we happily take on the challenge. We feel a few confined hours in a carseat are a small price to pay for cheerful parents not glued to a computer screen or other electronic devices, new sights, people, sounds and some earth to roam around in.

Wow what a wonderful adventure. Like you, I love our country side, I recall doing a very similar trip with Mark.
I’ve a hankering see the Wimmera region, again..
Just beautiful, and I’ve no doubt exactly what the three of you needed.
